US Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer, said the initiative on creation of a “Balkans Schengen” has the support of the United States adding that the idea seems promising.
Palmer made the comments during a forum organised in Geneva, Switzerland, saying that Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina are welcomed in this project which was initiated by Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic, prime ministers Edi Rama of Albania and Zoran Zaev of North Macedonia. “It is a promising initiative, it has our support and we are committed to work in partnership with leaders of the Western Balkan countries in order to move forward,” Palmer stated.
According to Palmer the idea of Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia on creation of a “mini-Schengen” area on freedom of movement shows these countries are taking responsibility for their fate by controlling their future, according to media in Belgrade. /Kosovopress/
